Today, the No. 1 issue facing
the Veteran community is suicide.
The American Legion’s primary mission, Be The One, is a concentrated effort to save the lives of Veterans and Service Members at risk of suicides.

American Legion Post and Squadron 477 proudly support Missions of Honor Old Glory Honor Flight & Freedom to Liberty. Since our inaugural golf outing in 2023, we've raised and donated more than $188,000 to these organizations.

Post & Squadron 477 members demonstrate our gratitude and respect for our Veterans and military members by providing Military Honors at their funerals and at 17 area cemeteries on Memorial Day.

A large group of Post 477 members attended the 2026 Department Convention. They accepted the Children & Youth Ambassador award and a number of membership awards on behalf our our Post members.

Post 477 and the St. Nazianz Lions brought Veteran Banners to the Village for the first time in 2025. The overwhelming community support quickly made this one of our most popular projects and a tradition we're proud to continue!

At Post 477, we're proud to invest in the next generation through programs like Badger Boys, Read Across America, Special Olympics, youth sports, Trunk or Treat, scholarships, and family-focused events that strengthen our community and create opportunities for young people to learn and thrive.

WOW! Our 2026 Tee It Up Fore Troops Golf Outing was an incredible success! 244 golfers,
70+ volunteers, 50+ sponsors, 100+ Veterans and military members golfed at no cost thanks to the generosity of our community partners.

Post 477 members conduct Buddy Checks
every month. It's important to text, call, message, or visit local Veterans we know. This seemingly simple task may change a life. It may save a life!

The American Legion Post 477 Family participated in the American Legion Challenge 250, using the opportunity to raise awareness of Be The One - the American Legion's mission to prevent Veteran suicide.

Several Post 477 members are certified to conduct Final Salute ceremonies through the "We Honor Veterans" program. This ceremony recognizes & honors Veterans in the closing chapters of their lives.
