The American Legion’s primary mission, Be The One, is a concentrated effort to save the lives of Veterans and Service Members at risk of suicides.

Doing BIG Things for OUR Community
American Legion Post 477 is a huge supporter of both Old Glory Honor Flight & Freedom to Liberty. Since 2023, we've raised and donated more than $117,000 to these two organizations.
Post & Squadron 477 members demonstrate our gratitude and respect for our Veterans and military members by providing Military Honors at their funerals and at 16 area cemeteries on Memorial Day.
Chris, Bernie, Kevin, Nancy & Chuck attended the 2025 Department Convention where they accepted a number of Membership, Public Relations and Americanism awards on behalf of our Post members.
Post 477 & the St Nazianz Lions brought Veteran banners to the Village in 2025! The banners quickly became one of our most popular projects ever. 2026 banners are being readied for display for Memorial Day
We particpate in, and support several children & youth activities to include; Read Across America, sponsorship of Special Olympics, a Teen Rodeo Princess & youth ball, Trunk or Treat, and at family friendly socials.
Our Tee It Up Fore Troops (TUFT) Golf Outing has become a premier golf outing for the area. Our 2026 outing is on 13 & 14 May; we expect nearly 250 golfers, 60+ volunteers, and more than 40 sponsors.
Post 477 members conduct Buddy Checks
every month. It's important to text, call, message, or visit local Veterans we know. This seemingly simple task may change a life. It may save a life!
Members of the American Legion 477 Family spread the word about both Be The One and Challenge 250 everywhere we go and in everything we do.
Several Post 477 members are certified to conduct Final Salute ceremonies through the "We Honor Veterans" program. This ceremony recognizes & honors Veterans in the closing chapters of their lives.
